A 13-year-old died following a golf cart accident in Badin Saturday.

Badin Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident around 12:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found two juveniles involved.

“It was coming down Pine Street and it did flip,” Officer D.S. Dissler said Sunday morning. “It is still under investigation as to how it flipped.”

One the individuals was thrown from the cart and the other was pinned under the cart for a short time, Dissler said.

Both 13-year-olds were transported to Atrium Health Stanly. The condition of the surviving minor was not revealed by police.

Badin Police was assisted by the N.C. Highway Patrol with the incident.

The accident is still under investigation.
