The City of Albemarle will continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and make adjustments. Administration and staff are getting updates from Stanly County Health Department, North Carolina Governor’s Office, NCDHHS, NCDPH and the Centers for Disease Control.

During this time one recommendation from all levels of Public Health administration has been implementing social distancing strategies. This is especially recommended for events and gatherings of 100 or more people.

NCDHHS recommends that people at high risk of severe illness from COVID-19 should avoid larger groups of people as much as possible.
People at high risk include those:

  • Over the age of 65 or,
  •  With underlying health conditions including heart disease, lung disease or diabetes or,
  •  With weakened immune systems.

Anyone who is sick, or feels unwell, is urged to stay home and not attend programs or activities being held.

Symptoms of coronavirus include fever, cough and shortness of breath.
