The Stanly County Public Library is getting ready for the month of love.

We love all of our library patrons, so we have several fun things to offer in February.

The Stanly County Museum has a small display of vintage Valentine cards in the lower level lobby at the Albemarle Library. The examples on display are from the 1910s with cherubic drawings and romantic verse.

If you have a collection of old valentines from your local family, please consider donating them to the museum to be shared with and enjoyed by future generations.

If you are interested in trying a Blind Date with a Book, you should stop by the Albemarle Library. A small collection of books have been gathered from the library shelves and wrapped in brown paper. Only a brief clue will give you a hint of what title your blind date book will be.

This should be fun for the adventurous readers. We all know that blind dates don’t always have a happy ending, so just return the book and try another one.

For those who aren’t big readers, but like to spend time with the Valentines and friends on the sofa binging movies, we have an option for you.

Check out one of our DVD Binge Bundles. Pick a romantic theme for a night with your Valentine or pick a comedy theme for an evening in with friends or family.

These bundles are preselected for you and there are many different themes to suit your mood. You can find these at the Albemarle Library and several of the branch libraries.

All of the staff at our various locations, Albemarle, Badin, Norwood, Oakboro, Locust and the History Center, hope that you will share your love for us.

During the week of Valentine’s Day we will have decorated Valentine boxes available at all of our locations with hearts and Valentines for you to sign and drop in the box for us.
