West Stanly’s men’s basketball team got another huge game from junior guard Austin Medlin in a 74-49 rout of the Montgomery Central Timberwolves Friday night at home.
Medlin led the Colts (10-5, 2-1 RRC) and all scorers with 37 points while Ethan Conner added 14.
“Austin got some great looks and we did a fantastic job looking for him tonight,” West head coach John Thompson said.
Kayshan Ingram led the Timberwolves (3-11, 0-3) with 14 points.
Leading by six at halftime, the Colts went on a big run in the third quarter outscoring Montgomery 27-4.
“Our defense overall was really good, and we hit some shots tonight…we played terrible in two games
over Christmas break and challenged our guys afterwards. I am really proud of how we have responded in practice and it’s carried over to the games,” Thompson said.
The Colts play at Anson (6-6, 2-1) Friday.
In the women’s basketball game, West improved to 8-7, 1-2 in the RRC with a 48-31 win over the Timberwolves.
