Notes: The Rebel Bulls go back on the road after a six-point road win last week, the narrowest victory for South Stanly over South Davidson since 1992.

North Rowan features running back Malcolm Wilson, whom Bulls head coach Ryan Ochier said is the best running back in the Yadkin Valley Conference. Wilson leads the Cavaliers in rushing yards and receiving yards.

The Cavs also have a strong wide receiver in Denerio Robinson, according to Ochier.
South’s head coach said he believes the Bulls’ skill at positions on the perimeter match up well with North Rowan.

“(This is) probably the best matchup we have had this season so far,” Ochier said.

Jaquez Cooke leads the county with 810 passing yards and 8 TDs.

Chatham Central (0-6, 0-1) at North Stanly (1-4, 0-0)

Notes: The average score in the 10 games of the series between the Bears and Comets heavily goes to North having averaged 50.9 points per game while allowing a 4.1 points against average.

Chatham Central features a pass-first offense with junior quarterback Michael Moore having thrown for 1,130 yards and seven TDs with six interceptions. On the ground, Riley Lagenor has 743 yards and seven TDs, averaging 9.2 yards per carry.

Chatham is second in the YVC in points scored, but the losses have come in part because of being last in points allowed. Among the seven teams, the Bears have allowed 304 points in six games. The next closest in points allowed, South Davidson, has allowed 169 in five games.

North QB Luke Shaver had three TDs’s last week in the Comets’ loss at Forest Hills.

Albemarle (1-4, 1-0 YVC) at North Moore (1-3, 0-1 YVC)

Notes: The Bulldogs have won the last two matchups with the Mustangs after losing three between 2014-16 (including one forfeit) disrupting a nine-game win streak.

For the second straight week, Albemarle faces a talented quarterback, this week being senior Gage Pennington who leads the team in rushing and passing yards.

Containing the quarterback is an absolute must, according to Bulldogs head coach Richard Davis.

“I like our matchup from an athletic standpoint but we have to play well in the trenches,” Davis said.

Last’s week’s win over Chatham Central along with a predominantly mistake-free effort in that win, which ended a five-game losing streak dating to last season, has lifted the team’s spirit this week, the Albemarle coach added.
