Stanly Community College will offer the Let’s Talk About It grant program, a library discussion series that brings scholars and community members together to explore how books, films and poetry illuminate a particular theme.

This project is made possible by funding from the North Carolina Humanities Council, a statewide nonprofit and affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The lecture series “The Journey Inward: Women’s Autobiography” is scheduled to run Aug. 29 to Oct. 24.

The five-week lecture series begins with scholar Alice Osborn on Aug. 29 with the book “One Writer’s Beginnings,” followed by scholar Julie Cartner on Sept. 12 with the book “Letters of a Woman Homesteader.”

On Sept. 26, Dr. Frank Deena will present his session with the book “Dust Tracks on a Road,” followed by Dr. Mark West on Oct. 10 with “An American Childhood.”
Scholar Tess Ocana will present the final session Oct. 24 with the book “West with the Night.”

All lectures will be at 6 p.m. in the Learning Resource Center inside the Snyder Building of Stanly Community College, 141 College Dr., Albemarle.

The lecture series is free to the public, but reservations are required as books are limited.
