Bulls improve to 13-1, 11-0 in YVC with victories

With two YVC wins this week, the South Stanly softball team improved to 13-1 on the season and moved 11-0 in conference play. The Bulls also extended the team’s active shutout streak to five games with two more shutouts this week.
South Stanly 5, West Montgomery 0
On Wednesday, the Rebel Bulls made up an earlier scheduled game with West Montgomery blanking the Warriors at home.
Sophomore pitcher Sadie Lee went the distance on the mound for South striking out four batters with one walk while scattering four hits.
At the plate, Lee helped her own cause with a three-run home run as well finishing with two hits in the game. Kaitlyn Tucker was 2-for-3 for the Bulls with a double while Adison Campbell and Adrianna Efird both drove in runs.
South Stanly 13, North Stanly 0
South improved its lead in the conference standings with a five-inning win Thursday over North Stanly. The Bulls scored nine runs in the bottom of the third inning and added four more in the fourth.
Lee struck out seven and picked up the win on the mound improving her pitching record to 11-1 on the season, allowing three hits.
Payton Landis took the loss for the Comets (10-4, 9-3). Landis had two hits for North as well.
Kaitlyn Tucker at the plate was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs while Campbell, Taryn Tucker and Efird each drove in two runs. Nine different South players had at least one hit in the game.
The Bulls lead West Montgomery by 1.5 games and have a 2.5 game lead on both the Comets and Uwharrie Charter.
South has two non-conference games scheduled this week, playing at Jay M. Robinson Monday and Wednesday at Piedmont.
