The North Stanly men’s basketball team, seeded 21st in the 1A West Region of the state playoffs, went on the road to No. 12 Cherryville and topped the Ironmen 71-59.

Bryson Childress led three in double figures for the Comets (17-10) with 31 points, including 27 in the second half, netting his eighth 30-point game of the season. Carson Lowder added 15 for North, while Nalik Veasley scored 11.

Nathan Jeffers led the Ironmen (20-6) with 17, while Matt Cain added 13.

North Stanly will be on the road Thursday at No. 5 Starmount (20-5), who won at home 71-39 over Thomas Jefferson Academy.
