The Stanly County Public Library announces the creation of a new staff position aimed at further enhancing the community’s access to high speed internet, digital device use and developing digital skills through innovative programming.
Jenny Misenheimer is a former educator who earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from UNC-Chapel Hill and a master’s degree in secondary science education from UNC-Charlotte.
She is excited about getting started in her new role as digital navigator.
“I’m passionate about helping people access technology in ways that are meaningful and impactful,” Misenheimer said. “I enjoy understanding the details of problems and working to find clear and understandable solutions.”
The new position is funded through a grant awarded by the N.C. Department of Information Technology’s Division of Broadband and Digital Equity.
Services the digital navigator can provide include:
• Personalized assistance offered through scheduled or walk-in appointments to help with things like getting internet access, utilizing internet capable devices, learning how to use email, staying safe online, finding ebooks, navigating social media and online learning.
• Leading group instruction teaching essential computer skills, internet basics, career search skills and utilizing library resources.
• Referral to and coaching through self-paced digital skills learning.
Patrons can access these new services by calling the Stanly County Public Library at 704-986-3755 to schedule an appointment or inquire about walk-in availability. They can also send an email with questions to jhmisenheimer@stanlycountylibrary.org.
