The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for most of Central North Carolina, including Stanly County.
The warning is from 1 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday.
The NWS predicts heavy mixed precipitation, with a total snow and sleet accumulation in some areas of three inches and ice accumulation up to two-tenths of an inch.
Higher snow accumulations are expected near the Virginia border.
Roads, especially bridges and overpasses, NWS said, will likely become slick and hazardous, with slippery road conditions.
