Albemarle Police arrest teen after alleged incident at store

Around 12:15 p.m. Monday, Albemarle Police responded to a reported verbal altercation at a convenience store in the 600 block of N.C. Highway 24-27. The call was upgraded after reports indicated that weapons were present.
Upon arrival, officers reported seeing several teenagers. A 16-year-old male, who ran from police, was taken into custody, police said. A stolen handgun was recovered.
Criminal charges are pending.
In accordance with North Carolina law, the identity of the juvenile will not be released.
