The 2024 Albemarle football season ended with a first round loss to East Wilkes (9-2) in the 1A NCHSAA playoffs.
Albemarle finished with a 3-8 record after a 49-28 loss to the Cardinals.
After a long bus ride, the Bulldogs took a first quarter beating, getting outscored 21-7.
But AHS made a surge with points of its own led by the duo of quarterback Dre Davis and receiver Zyion Geiger, who combined for 90 yards and a touchdown. Geiger had 123 yards of total offense and collected another touchdown on the ground. Shoddy Pregee added 107 total yards with a 72-yard kick return and touchdown. Kaine McLendon had a kickoff return to give Albemarle it’s second score to cut the deficit to 27-14. Carlos Popoca was a perfect four for four on PATs.
East Wilkes will play at North Rowan next week.
