ELECTION 2024: Locust

Locust Mayor Steve Huber, incumbent councilmen Larry Baucom, Mike Haigler and Rusty Efird and former Olympian Denise (De Dee) Nathan were all victorious in their bids on Nov. 5.
Huber was unopposed for the mayoral position and received 2,388 votes (96.7%), with 82 write-in votes being cast.
Baucom was top vote-getter in the race for the four open council seats, garnering 1,664 votes (20.4%). Haigler trailed by one ballot (1,663, also 20.4%), with Efird close behind at 1,625 (20%). Nathan followed in fourth at 1,007 (12.3%).
Also competing were Jeff Claiborne (860 votes, 10.5%), Mario Miller (725 votes, 8.9%) and Joseph Abbatiello (539 votes, 6.6%).
A total of 85 write-in votes were cast in the council election, accounting for the remaining 1%.
