The Easter Eggstravaganza brought many kids, and parents, to City Lake Park in Albemarle April 12.
This was the first Easter egg hunt for many of the children, and they said it was special because of all the fun activities it offered, from face painting, games and food, to the best part for many — the golden eggs and, of course, the Easter Bunny.
Most parents in attendance said they grew up going to Easter egg hunts and being able to bring their children to such an event as this one was special to them.
Some groups that were at the Easter Eggstravaganza, hosted by Albemarle Parks and Recreation, included Stanly County Partners in Health, Stanly County Partnership for Children, Center for Prevention Services and local fire and police departments.
Feedback from parents and children show that the Golden Shoe event, where shoes are hidden around various parks in Stanly County (sponsored by Partners In Health), was a major highlight of their year; one resident shared its ability to encourage physical activity and community participation through this exciting search.
Mikayla Williams, Golden Shoe event coordinator for this event, shared that this has become an annual tradition since 2009, bringing families together in a fun search.
