Big Lick Bluegrass Festival returns for its 21st year April 10-12 at Big Lick Festival Park just outside Oakboro.
Cutter & Cash and the Lonesome River Band, including fiddler Mike Hartgrove of Albemarle, will open the festival on Thursday.
Hosted by Sideline, the three- day festival also includes Authentic Unlimited, the Grascals, the Seldom Scene, Junior Sisk, Darin & Brooke Aldridge, Ralph Stanley II & the Clinch Mountain Boys, Drive Time and the Parlor House Band.
“This is our third year as the host band, and there is so much that goes in the hosting a festival besides just playing on stage,” Sideline founding member and banjoist Steve Dilling said. “We love to interact with the audience and be out and about throughout the festival grounds. We also host a bingo game on Friday and a cornhole tournament on Saturday.”
Festival promoter Jeff Branch of Oakboro said last year’s festival was a “tremendous success.”
“It looks like we will surpass last year’s event from the buzz in the bluegrass world. It’s a perfect way to start off your bluegrass outdoor season with us at Big Lick,” Branch said.
Park owners Phillip Austin and John Teel continue to make improvements to the park. The permanent bathhouse is now fully open, with more camping spots, a picnic shelter and lots of landscaping.
Big Lick Festival Park is at 722 S. Oak Ridge Road, Oakboro. For tickets or camping Information, call Branch at 704-985-6987.
