One of Stanfield’s most known individuals has announced her retirement.
Bridgette Helms, who has been employed with the town since 2008 and has been its town administrator for nearly 11 years, is stepping down.
She began working as a part-time temporary worker and eventually moved into full-time positions of assistant town clerk and interim town administrator before becoming the town administrator.
Helms said she decided more than a year ago that she would retire when she turns 62 this year.
“I have met so many nice people while working for the Town and have learned so much,” Helms said. “The residents I have seen come and go over the past 17 years have been some of the nicest people you could ever meet. I will miss the kind words and smiles and conversations when people just drop by to say hey and check out our 100-year-old Town Hall building. There’s truly nothing better than a small town. I’d like to say how much I have enjoyed my time working for the Town of Stanfield.”
The Town of Stanfield has started accepting applications to fill the position.
