The City of Albemarle is proud has announced the launch of its Walk of Fame program, a new initiative designed to recognize current or former residents who have made a lasting impact on the community and beyond.
The Albemarle Walk of Fame will honor individuals who have achieved national, regional or local recognition and have made substantial civic contributions through their work, lifetime achievements and volunteer service.
Inductees will be recognized with bronze medallions embedded in the sidewalk in front of Albemarle City Hall on Second Street, commemorating their achievements and service.
“The Walk of Fame is an opportunity to celebrate the outstanding individuals who have shaped Albemarle and left a legacy of excellence in various fields,” Mayor Ronnie Michael said. “Our city’s history is filled with examples of people who made an impact on our city, state and country through their life’s work.”
Nominations for the inaugural class of the Albemarle Walk of Fame are now open and will be accepted until April 30. Individuals eligible for nomination must be current or former residents of Albemarle and must have achieved national recognition in one of the following categories: Humanitarian, Entertainment, Civic, Art/Architecture, Sports, Military, Literary, or Business/Industry.
Nominees must have demonstrated outstanding service of enduring value to Albemarle and its residents.
