The Homes of Hope Board of Directors has announced the promotion of Tiera McDonald to the position of executive director.
McDonald has been a member of the Homes of Hope team for 10 years, most recently serving as program manager.

Tiera McDonald
McDonald is a lifelong resident of Stanly County. She graduated from Albemarle High School and furthered her education at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she developed an understanding of the complex social and economic factors that contribute to housing insecurity.
Her educational background, combined with her extensive experience in the nonprofit sector, makes her uniquely qualified to lead Homes of Hope into the future, according to a press release from the board.
“Tiera’s deep passion for our mission, her demonstrated leadership, and her firsthand understanding of the challenges our community faces make her the ideal leader for our organization,” said Charity Meachum, vice president of the Homes of Hope Board of Directors. “We are confident that, under her guidance, Homes of Hope will remain a beacon of hope for individuals and families in need of safe, stable, and affordable housing.”
As program manager, McDonald oversaw the day-to-day operations of Homes of Hope Inc. housing programs, ensuring that clients received the support they needed to achieve housing stability. She also played a key role in developing and implementing innovative programs to address the root causes of homelessness.
“I am honored and humbled to be chosen as the executive director of Homes of Hope,” said McDonald. “I am deeply committed to our mission of providing affordable housing and supportive services to our community. I look forward to working with our dedicated staff, volunteers, and partners to expand our impact and create a future where everyone has a place to call home.”
McDonald assumed her new role effective Jan. 14. She succeeds Shanta Watkins, who resigned to pursue other opportunities.
