ASHEVILLE, N.C. – U.S. Forest Service fire crews have successfully contained all reported wildfires across the National Forests in North Carolina:

  • Falls Dam Fire (~505-acres) in the Uwharrie National Forest, Montgomery County- 65% contained.
  • Ramshorn Fire (~110 acres) in the Croatan National Forest, Carteret County- fully contained.
  • Hicks Cemetery Fire (~150 acres) in the Pisgah National Forest, Haywood County 40% containment.

All other reported fires have been contained.

Crews will continue reinforcing containment lines using natural barriers and improving existing defenses to prevent further spread. Smoke may still be visible within contained areas due to unburned pockets of fuel.

A weather system moving in tonight and lasting through tomorrow will bring strong winds and dry air, further elevating fire risk. However, precipitation and rising humidity are expected to moderate conditions and fire behavior in coming days.
