The National Weather Service issued the following fire weather watch on Friday afternoon:
DANGEROUS FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS POSSIBLE SATURDAY… .Breezy winds will combine with low relative humidities, dry fuels and a wind shift on Saturday to potentially support dangerous fire weather conditions. The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a Fire Weather Watch for gusty winds and low relative humidity, which is in effect from Saturday morning through Saturday evening. * AFFECTED AREA…All of central North Carolina. * TIMING…From Saturday morning through Saturday evening. * WINDS…West around 15 mph with gusts 20 to 35 mph. A wind shift out of the northwest is expected between 4 and 8 pm Saturday. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY…20 to 25 percent. * TEMPERATURES…low to mid 70s. * LIGHTNING…None * IMPACTS…Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
