According to church records, the congregation now known as Love’s Grove Methodist Church was organized in 1860. During the first few years, services were held in a series of brush arbors. In 1867, the members built their first log church. This building was located on the original plot of land that had been given by Mrs. Freeby Love and it stood where the cemetery is today. About 1884, a new frame church was built. It was described as being “straight and rather narrow,” with three rows of seats. Unfortunately, a picture of this building has not been found. In 1929, another new sanctuary, this time made of brick, replaced the earlier building. In 1947, fundraising began for an Educational Building that was finally constructed in 1961. The current sanctuary, built by local contractor D.A. Holbrook, was completed in 1978. A new wing was added behind the church in 1990 and a new multi-purpose space was added in 2008. {Lewis Bramlett – Stanly County Historical Society}
