This residential summer program promises to offer individuals the opportunity to engage with their studies and delve into the realms of creativity, expression, and literary analysis. Faust will study creative writing courses where students compose fiction and poetry under the guidance of a published author, with Oxford’s rich literary history as their inspiration.
While there, Faust will engage in workshops, lectures, and discussions that challenge one’s creativity and expand their understanding of various writing styles and genres. The immersive experience will include everything from poetry and fiction to memoir and screenwriting, allowing students to explore their interests and refine their craft.
“I fell in love with Oxford a few years ago and researched it extensively before visiting the UK this past summer. Our college counselor gave me the brochure for the Oxford program in September and, immediately, I knew I couldn’t let this opportunity slip away. I am humbled and so very grateful to have been accepted into this program. I look forward to being immersed in the historic charm of Oxford and I am excited to see how it will inspire my creativity and push the boundaries of what I’m currently capable,” said Faust.
The application process required samples of previous written work, letters of recommendation and a personal statement that captured the applicant’s voice and aspirations in writing.
“We are thrilled that Emma will be able to take part in such an invaluable experience that goes beyond the scope of the classroom. Studying abroad and in such a historic location offers not just education but also a chance to network with other aspiring writers, publishers and literary enthusiasts.
This experience will allow her to collaborate on projects, and develop critical thinking and interpersonal skills — qualities that are essential in any professional setting,” said Helen Nance, chief administrative officer at Gray Stone.
Emma is the daughter of Monica and Jimmy Faust of New London.
