Stanly County has a rich history of prominent musicians. Many of these musicians taught and served in local churches and schools. Through their work, others learned to make joyful sounds and cultivated a love of music.
This first in a series of “Prominent Musicians” programs will honor individuals in Albemarle: Margie Mauney, Katherine Almond, Mary Hearne, Paul Frye, Tommy Hauss, Joann Morton, Annyce Worsham and Marie Jones.
The Stanly County Historical Society’s program will be at 3 p.m. Feb. 2 at First Presbyterian Church, 126 W. North St., in Albemarle.
Michael Rowland, organist at First Presbyterian Church, will provide organ music during the presentations.
The program is free and open to the public.
