A few businesses in Locust will get an early jump on Galentine’s Day.
Galentine’s Day, a holiday that celebrates women’s friendships, was first mentioned in a Season Two episode of “Parks and Recreation” in 2010.
Brandi Long says when she and her sister, Sara Ferguson, took over ownership of Pretty Please Boutique in August, they knew something was missing, even though the business had been around for 10 years.
“It was apparent that running a small woman-owned business came with its own setbacks,” Long said. “We found it very difficult to build entrepreneurial relationships with other like-minded women within the community.”
Long said she was planning to just partner with Pure Vitality Med Spa to support another woman-owned small business, but it grew beyond that.
“Fast forward a couple months later, little did we know we would be adding over six additional amazing businesses to the event,” Long said. “We are beyond grateful for the opportunity to work with so many amazing individuals. With a lot of prayers and determination, Pretty Please Boutique will cultivate a culture where we support, encourage and strengthen each other.”
Additional businesses involved are Travelin’ Memories, Daisy Mae Designs, Make “Mia” Cake, Beauty In The Ink and FireFlyz Mobile Bar.
“We truly believe stronger relationships with like-minded women will impact our community and the customers we serve,” Long said.
Usually observed on Feb. 13, the Locust businesses will have the “Queen of Hearts Galentine’s Day” event 5-8 p.m. Feb. 1 at Pretty Please Boutique and Pure Vitality Med Spa at 121 Renee Ford Road in Locust.
The event will include a photo booth, sweet treats, adult beverages, clothes, Botox specials and more.
