The Stanly County Sports Hall of Fame accepts nominations for membership year-round, and those who wish to submit a nomination should call 980-621-8980 or e-mail eproht112956@yahoo.com to request a nomination form, or for questions on the nomination process.
Nomination forms can also be picked up at the Albemarle Parks and Recreation offices at the Jesse F. Niven Community Center.
For a nominee to be considered for the induction class of 2025, his/her nomination must be submitted by Jan. 1, 2025. Once nominated, a nominee remains eligible for future years, so there is no need to re-submit each year.
Criteria for nominees are as follows:
• Awards will be given to adults, living or deceased, who made a contribution to any sport while a resident of Stanly County, or to an adult with strong ties to the county who contributed to the world of sports after leaving the county.
• Race, color, creed, sex, religion and national origin shall not be considered in determining the award recipient.
• Achievements and/or services in past years will be given the same consideration as current achievements and/or services.
The award will be given to persons whose contributions to sports in the Stanly County area, past and/or present, have reflected outstanding credit upon themselves as individuals, upon the sport with which they are identified, and upon this community.
Consideration also will be given to individuals who went on to great athletic accomplishments in other worthy fields of endeavor.
