The United Way of Stanly County has appointed Carla Poplin as its new executive director, effective Jan. 6, 2025.
“I am honored to join the United Way of Stanly County as executive director,” Poplin said. “This organization has a long history of addressing the most critical needs in our community. I look forward to building on that legacy and working with our partners, volunteers, and donors to create positive, lasting change for Stanly County residents.”
A native of Albemarle, Poplin brings experience in nonprofit leadership, community engagement and fundraising to the role.
Most recently, Poplin served as the community resource coordinator with the Nehemiah Project Covenant of Love in Albemarle.
Poplin, a Stanly County school board member, is a 2004 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she developed the foundation for her career in service and leadership.
She, her husband Dustin, and their two children live in Albemarle.
Poplin will succeed Kelly Misiak, who has accepted a position outside North Carolina.
