PEEKING INTO THE PAST: Badin Presbyterian Church

The First Presbyterian Church of Badin was organized in March 1917. There were 49 charter members. They originally met in the Community Building off Pine Street and also in the Badin school building. During 1919/1920 the church constructed their own building on the corner of Falls Road and Spruce Street on land donated by the Tallassee Power Company. The first service was held in this new building during November 1920. Due to an increase in membership, the church added a classroom building in 1937 — and just two years later excavated three additional rooms from underneath the main building. A manse was purchased in 1942, that was later replaced in 1962, and a Fellowship Building was added in 1957.
