Allow your family to be transported to Germany during the Victorian period. Witness the battle between marching toy soldiers and mischievous mice, a glowing Christmas tree that magically grows, dancing snowflakes, waltzing flowers, the Nutcracker Princess and Clara’s tour of the Land of Sweets.
The City Youth Ballet is proud to announce Joely Hinson as Clara.
Hinson is the 10-year-old daughter of Sara Gardon and Kurt Hinson. She is a fourth grader at Carolina Christian School.
She has studied dance for eight years at Albemarle Academy of Dance, where she is a member of its competition and performance company. This is her third performance in “The Nutcracker” with City Youth Ballet.
The role of the Nutcracker Princess is being performed by Alydia Wheeler.
Wheeler, a sophomore in the dance program at Elon University and former Albemarle Academy of Dance student, is excited to return to the stage as a guest artist with City Youth Ballet. She has attended ballet summer intensives with the South Carolina Summer Dance Conservatory, North Carolina School of the Arts, BalletMet, Austin Ballet and Katsbaan Ballet in New York.
This will be her sixth “Nutcracker” with City Youth Ballet, and she is excited to be dancing as the first female Nutcracker in the CYB history.
Dancers in the production are from Stanly, Montgomery and Cabarrus counties and range in age from 7 to 60.
