The City of Albemarle is hosting an open house event to gather community input for its new Comprehensive Land Use Plan, titled Envision Albemarle 2045.
This open house will provide residents with an opportunity to share their vision, values and goals for the city’s future.
Input will play a role in shaping Albemarle’s long-term plans, development codes and budgets, ensuring that they reflect the needs and aspirations of the community.
The open house will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at E.E. Waddell Center, 621 Wall St., Albemarle
This is a drop-in event, open to all residents.
City staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide guidance.
“We need a plan that helps manage change in a way that benefits all residents. That’s why the City of Albemarle’s Planning and Development Department is asking for our community’s help in building our new Comprehensive Land Use Plan,” said Kevin Robinson, Albemarle Planning and Development director. “Think of the comprehensive plan as a roadmap to the future. You can help us navigate where we want to go.”
In addition to the open house, residents are encouraged to complete the Comprehensive Land Use Plan Survey, available at www.albemarlenc.gov/future. Survey participants who complete the survey by Dec. 31 will have four chances to win a $100 gift card.
A Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) is a strategic policy document designed to guide the growth and development of a city over the next 20 years. This plan identifies and addresses key aspects of urban growth, including land use, housing, transportation, environmental protection, economic development and community involvement.
By defining goals and policies, the CLUP provides a roadmap for creating a city that aligns with the community’s vision.
The Envision Albemarle 2045 plan will be the guiding document for land use and development, aligning physical growth with Albemarle’s social, environmental and economic goals.
Following the open house, additional neighborhood meetings will be held to provide even more ways for residents to participate in shaping the Comprehensive Land Use Plan.
