N.C. Farm Bureau will have a letter drive for Western North Carolina.
Visit the lobby of the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to drop off or create a message of encouragement.
Teachers, club leaders, parents, consider asking your young people to write notes/letters/poems or drawings to families, farmers and individuals affected by Hurricane Helene, or to first responders, emergency personnel and community helpers.
Physical letters can be mailed to NCFB, Attn: Ag in the Classroom, PO Box 27766, Raleigh NC 27611, or notes can be scanned and emailed to Heather Morton heather.morton@ncfb.org.
There is not a specific deadline, but organizers would like to have these delivered before Thanksgiving.
If the letter is to first responders or emergency personnel, or folks in the community helping, writer can address them letters, “Dear helper.”
If it’s to someone displaced, or suffering loss, the notes can start with “Dear farmer,” “Dear community member,” or “Dear friend.”
