Man arrested for shooting at Albemarle Police HQ, vehicle

Albemarle Police Department has made an arrest following a shots fired incident that struck the Albemarle Police Headquarters and an unoccupied, unmarked APD vehicle. The incident occurred at approximately 5:17 a.m. Sunday.

James Kindell

On Tuesday, James Edgar Amaendus Kindell, 38, of Badin, was arrested in New London by Albemarle Police and the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office. Kindell is being held at the Stanly County Jail on the charges of discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling, injury to real property, injury to personal property and discharging a firearm inside the city limits.

In 2020, Kindell was charged for firing shots targeting the former APD Headquarters on Second Street. That case is still pending court proceedings.
