A man died at the scene of a wreck in western Stanly County.

N.C. Highway Patrol was dispatched to a collision on Mission Church Road around 7 p.m. Monday.

A motorcycle was traveling east on Mission Church Road when it failed to negotiate a sharp curve, Highway Patrol reports. The driver, Joseph D. Ellison of Harrisburg, died at the scene of the collision.

Highway Patrol said speed was a factor in the crash, but there were no indications of impairment at this time.
