The following was submitted by Kim McGowen, annual giving officer for Stanly Health Foundation, host of Stanly County’s “Dancing With the Stars.”

The stage is set for a night of glitz, glamour and community spirit as Kelly Morgan and Ashley Hartsell join the lineup for the 12th annual “Dancing with the Stars” event, benefiting the Butterfly House Children’s Advocacy Center. This event promises to be an exciting evening, with local personalities coming together to showcase their dance skills and support a vital cause.
Morgan has deep roots in Stanly County, where she has spent most of her life. Currently residing in Stanfield with her husband, Brandon, and their two children, Wyatt (13) and Judson (10), Kelly is a true outdoor enthusiast. Whether it’s spending time on the ballfield, fishing, hanging out with her dogs or working on the family farm, Kelly loves to be active and involved in her community. She also enjoys relaxing at the beach with a good book. A fun fact about Kelly is that she is more “reserved” sister in their dance duo, but is excited about taking the stage with her sister, Ashley.
Community involvement and working with youth are core values for Kelly, who is currently an associate at Charlotte Pipe and Foundry Company in Oakboro. With a background in dance and cheer, Kelly is excited to return to the stage to support the Butterfly House. She expresses her gratitude to everyone supporting this event and the critical work of the Butterfly House in assisting families throughout the community.
Ashley Hartsell is another proud Stanly County native, having graduated from Albemarle High School before continuing her education at Stanly Community College. Ashley is married to Brian, and together they have two daughters—Lilly, a college freshman at Belmont Abbey, and Abby, a rising eighth grader at West Stanly Middle School. The Hartsell family are avid sports fans, often spending their weekends at the softball fields, and they also enjoy spending time at the lake and traveling. Ashley’s dream as a child was to become a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, so she is thrilled to share the stage with her sister and dance moves with the audience.
Ashley serves as the business office manager at Anson Health and Rehab, where she is passionate about her work and dedicated to personal and professional growth. She lives by the motto, “Don’t be the same, be better,” which reflects her commitment to helping others and making a positive impact in her community.
Kelly and Ashley are eager to hit the dance floor at this year’s Dancing with the Stars event, themed “Magic of Motown.” The event will be on Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center. With the support of the community, Kelly and Ashley are ready to shine for a cause that is close to their hearts.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Butterfly House Children’s Advocacy Center, which provides services to children and families in need.
