New London man faces multiple drug charges

On Aug. 13, the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division conducted an investigation into the illegal trafficking of methamphetamine.
A traffic stop was conducted on U.S. Highway 52 North on a vehicle driven by Frank Yang of New London. Upon a search of the vehicle and Yang’s person, more than 76 grams of methamphetamine was located, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Yang was charged with trafficking by possession of methamphetamine; trafficking by transportation of methamphetamine; possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver methamphetamine; possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule I controlled substance; and maintaining vehicle for the sale of controlled substances.
Yang received a secured $500,000 bond from the charges.
After continuing to investigate Yang, a search warrant was received on Aug. 16 for his residence at 344 E. Church St. in New London.
During the search of the home, multiple drug paraphernalia items and controlled substances were located, Sheriff’s Office said.
More than 53 grams of methamphetamine was located in the residence along with what field tested positive for fentanyl.
Yang was then charged with trafficking by possession of methamphetamine; possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver methamphetamine; possession with intent to manufacture sell and deliver schedule II controlled substance; and maintaining vehicle for the sale of controlled substances.
Yang received a secured $250,000 bond from the charges.
