New city manager to greet Albemarle residents

The community is invited to meet Albemarle City Manager Todd Clark, on Wednesday. A drop-in event will be from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at City Hall in the Ray Allen Room.
All members of the community are welcome to say hello, ask questions and learn more about Clark’s vision for Albemarle’s future.
Clark was selected to lead the city following a nationwide search. He brings nearly 34 years of governmental experience to the role.
For the past two years, Clark served as the town manager of Beaufort. His prior experience includes nearly 14 years as city manager of Newton, a public power community. Additionally, he has three years of experience as town manager of Maiden and four years as town manager of Catawba.
Upon his hiring, Clark commented, “I am grateful to the Albemarle City Council for entrusting me with the position of city manager. Albemarle is a growing city with an impeccable reputation. I look forward to working with the Council, dedicated city staff and citizens to provide the highest level of service possible.”
As city manager, Clark oversees the day-to-day operations and the city’s $83 million budget. The city’s operations include an electric system, water and wastewater systems, landfill facility, public housing department, parks and recreation department, police department, fire department and other traditional city departments.
