The following was submitted by Kim McGowen, annual giving officer for Stanly Health Foundation, host of Stanly County’s “Dancing With the Stars.”

The excitement continues to build for the 12th annual Dancing with the Stars event supporting Butterfly House Children’s Advocacy Center, with the latest announcement of another incredible dance team: Summer and Jacob Todd.
Summer Todd is a lifelong resident of Stanly County, born and raised in this close-knit community.
After graduating from Albemarle High School, she pursued her education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Summer’s career led her back home, where she now works in the operating room at Atrium Stanly.
Married to her high school sweetheart and dance partner, Jacob Todd, they have two children, Ezra (7) and Eliza (4), and reside in Aquadale.
Beyond her nursing career, Summer is a personal trainer and serves on the board of Camp Shenandoah Springs, a Christian camp and retreat center in Madison, Virginia.
Jacob Todd, also a native of Stanly County, graduated from South Stanly High School and then attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography.
He currently works for Battelle Memorial Institute as a data scientist and resides in Aquadale with his wife, Summer, and their two children.
Jacob is actively involved in his community, volunteering as the strength and conditioning coach for the South Stanly High School football team.
In his spare time, Jacob enjoys outdoor activities, riding anything that produces adrenaline and building projects.
A fun fact about Summer and Jacob is that they were high school sweethearts.
Summer and Jacob’s participation in the Dancing with the Stars event underscores their commitment to giving back to their community and supporting the vital services provided by the Butterfly House.
The event will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center, with the enchanting theme “Magic of Motown” promising an evening filled with soulful music and captivating dance performances.
With 11 dance teams diligently perfecting their routines and engaging in various fundraising activities, the night is set to be a spectacular celebration of talent and community spirit.
Tickets are now available, and the community is encouraged to come out and support Summer, Jacob and all the participants. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Butterfly House Children’s Advocacy Center, providing essential services to children and families in need.
