The Kingville High School Alumni Association hosted an event to celebrate its 45th anniversary recently at the Shebah House in Kannapolis.

With the theme “Let’s Do It Again,” the alumni association awarded scholarships which the organization has done since its inception in 1979. Since 2012, the organization has given out $24,610 in scholarships to students with funds raised from alumni members. The group also raised funds during the COVID-19 pandemic without any public fundraising events.

According to Brenda Stanback, Class of 1967 and president of the alumni association, members “dug deep into their pockets and made dreams a reality and vow to do it again and again.”

Stanback said the estimate of the funds raised by the organization for scholarships is $63,110. The alumni organization also supports the Friends of the E.E. Waddell Center, donates bicycles to the Waddell’s toy drive and assisted in buying drapes for the center’s computer lab. She said the association also supports churches in the city and county financially and physically, as well as donates to youth sporting events and other endeavors.

“The Alumni is one of the few organizations who can still walk the halls of their former school, which is now the E.E. Waddell Center,” Stanback said. “We are very proud of the Center and will continue to support and participate in its programs.”
