N.C. Cooperative Extension will help with the Great Southeast Pollinator Census and it needs help from Stanly County residents.
The census is a collaborative citizen science project created by the University of Georgia. The mission is to record census data about pollinator activity, giving data to scientists who work to protect them. Since its inception, the project has grown to include North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida.
The census begins on Aug. 23 and extends through Aug. 24. Participation is highly encouraged on one or both days.
Cooperative Extension will host a census at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center 10-11 a.m. Aug. 24, guided by horticulture agent Andrew Pfeifer.
This is a family event, and all materials will be provided. More information about the census can be found at https://gsepc.org.
