Dolly Clayton has accepted the county’s offer to become its new health and human services director.
Clayton has served as the county’s social services director for the last 6.5 years and prior to serving in Stanly County was the health director in Caswell County.
A licensed clinical social worker, she has previously served in public health roles in Caswell, Cumberland and Chatham counties.
She has most recently led the county’s Opioid Settlement Taskforce strategic planning efforts and has been a member of the county’s Human Services leadership team since January 2018.
She has a master’s degree in public administration from UNC-Chapel Hill, a master’s degree in social work from the University of Maryland at Baltimore and a bachelor of arts in sociology from Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory.
“Dolly’s extensive social service, human service and public health knowledge will be very valuable in helping the county realize its goals of a more consolidated human services model,” County Manager Andy Lucas said. “The county consolidated its social service and public health agencies in 2018 in an effort to more holistically address the human service needs of our citizens and enhance the cost effectiveness of these services.”
Clayton will officially transition to her new role on Monday.
