ANNIVERSARY: The Browns celebrate 69 years

Kenny and Frances Brown of Albemarle, celebrate their 69th wedding anniversary on July 2. The couple was married July 2, 1955 at Pfeiffer College Chapel in Misenheimer by Rev. Ivey L. Sharpe, father of the bride, and Rev. Edgar F. Pepper, brother-in-law of the bride.
Mrs. Brown is the former Frances Sharpe, daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Ivey L. Sharpe. Mr. Brown is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. T.R. Brown.
The couple’s four children and their families helped celebrate their special occasion. Included are Karen and John Waller and son, John Jr. and wife Abby, Susan and Randy Gibson and children, Jennifer Gibson, Matt Chandler, Taylor Hurley and wife Mandy, and Travis Gibson and wife April, Teresa and Donne Poplin and sons Chase, Alex, Steve Brown and children Zac and wife Alyssa, Maddie and Aidan.
The couple has eight great-grandchildren, Kendall Chandler, Brody Parker, Mason and Jenson Gibson, twins Huxley and Sawyer Hurley, Ava and Charlotte Brown.
Mr. Brown is an Army veteran and retired from Stanly County Schools after 33 years of teaching. Mrs. Brown was also a former school teacher in Stanly and Rowan counties.
The Browns have enjoyed their retirement years traveling, spending time with their families, attending baseball and softball games, graduations and family weddings, and especially fellowship at their traditional Sunday family lunches together.
The couple have been active members of Bethany United Methodist Church for 52 years.
