New London resident faces charges after pedestrian dies

A pedestrian who was the victim of a hit-and-run died of his injuries on Saturday and the woman accused of hitting him was arrested, the Courier-Tribune of Asheboro is reporting.
Billy Glenn Medford, Jr., 45, was hit on Oakland Avenue, Asheboro, around 4:15 a.m. Friday.
Randolph County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived to find him unconscious on the ground. He was taken to a hospital.
Lashanda Kay Schwarcbher, 44, was found and arrested at a residence on Robin Lane in New London, the sheriff’s office told the Tribune.
She is charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, but the investigation is continuing and more charges may be filed, the sheriff’s office said.
