Our church collected canned goods to be wrapped in “white tissue.”
“White Christmas” was to be distributed among needy families in our small town on Christmas day.
1958 remains deep in my memory because this was the time my daddy, another church member and I were privileged to deliver the goods. We went into neighborhoods on the margins of our town, where I had never been before.
The obvious gratitude on the faces of those who received brought true joy to my heart, which I shall never forget.
I know now that the world gives us incidents of happiness, but joy comes from the Lord.
