Tristan James Cannoy of Trinity graduated from Virginia Military Institute (VMI) on May 16 with distinction, majoring in history with a concentration in military science.

Cannoy commissioned as second lieutenant into the Army Infantry on May 15. He will proceed into the Infantry Basic Officer Leadership Course at Ft. Moore, Georgia.

He is the son of Jim Cannoy of Trinity and Sherrie Drye of Archdale and brother of Annabel Cannoy of Raleigh. He is the grandson of Tim and Yvonne Drye of Thomasville (formerly of Albemarle) and Pam Cannoy of Talladega, Alabama.
