The National Day of Prayer tradition is observed on the first Thursday in May.
For the past 21 years Locust has come together to observe this tradition with prayers for the country.
The Locust National Day of Prayer Task Force continues this tradition with a non-denominational gathering open to all at noon Thursday in the front of Locust City Hall. Parking and attendance are free.
This event will feature musical guest, local officials, color guard and more.
This year’s theme is “Pray Fervently In Righteousness and Avail Much.”
In Oakboro, an event will take place at noon Thursday in the Mini Park across from the Oakboro Post Office.
Individuals will also gather at noon Thursday at Courthouse Square Park in downtown Albemarle for a ceremony.
