An early Monday morning single-vehicle accident in Stanly County resulted in the death of one person, according to N.C. Highway Patrol.
At around 5:40 a.m., a 2022 Ram 4500 was traveling south on N.C. Highway 742 when the truck briefly traveled off the road to the right before coming back on and overturning, according to Trooper B.L. Baucom.
Four people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash, Baucom said. The victim, a passenger who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene, Baucom said. The other three were injured and taken to Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord.
The accident was first reported by WBTV.
Highway Patrol said the crash closed part of N.C. 742 near Old Sandbar Road.
