Regarding the article of methane gas being present (31% to 80%) at the recycling center, why not investigate the cost to capture and reuse the excess methane gas for powering generators or small engines rather than letting it escape into the atmosphere?
I don’t know if there is a sufficient volume of gas to make this a feasible alternative, but it’s worth a look.
This green power is currently being utilized by Horry County (home to Myrtle Beach) at its Solid Waste Authority and has been up and running since 2002.
Just a thought from a proud former resident of Stanly County.
