Albemarle Police arrest man after explosives found in house

Albemarle Police arrested a man after responding to a call of a subject threatening violence Tuesday night.
Police responded to a home in the 1500 block of Holbrook Court around 7:30 p.m. Officers located a person on the porch of the home in possession of a firearm. Officers successfully negotiated with the subject to surrender.
Bomb squad specialists were called in after suspicious items consistent with explosives were discovered at the home. The suspicious items were safely removed and destroyed.
Charlotte Fire Department Hazmat responded after an investigation determined the scene contained possibly a hazmat situation. Further investigation determined the home contained an active drug lab. The North Carolina State Bureau assisted in executing a search warrant.
Charges are pending against 32-year-old Jeremy Lee Crabtree.
APD officers were assisted by the Albemarle Fire Department, Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office, Union County Sheriff’s Office, Stanly County EMS and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
