Pfeiffer University’s Jerome Savoy hit a three-pointer with 10 seconds remaining to provide the Falcons with a 67-64 road win at Virginia Wesleyan on Monday night.
With the game in the balance, Virginia Wesleyan was able to hit the front end of a pair of free throws to tie the game at 64-64 with 18 seconds left. A missed Marlin free throw on the second attempt was rebounded by senior Taylan Rowe (Oakboro, N.C.) who pushed the ball up the floor and Savoy pulled up and drilled his third of the game to give the Falcons the 67-64 lead.
Pfeiffer had to withstand a Marlin three point attempt as the horn sounded, but Tim Fisher’s shot was off the mark, sending the Falcons to their second road win of the season.
Savoy, from Waldorf, Md., led Pfeiffer with 17 points while Donnie Haith (Aberdeen, N.C.) had 12. Sean Scott (Waldorf, Md.) claimed 11 points on the evening.
Sophomore Dorian Miles (Greenville, S.C.) led the Falcons on the boards, finishing with eight rebounds to go along with eight points.
VWU got a career high 31 points from Tim Fisher in the loss.
Pfeiffer improves to 3-2 with the win while VWU drops to 3-3 overall.
