The 2021 John P. Murray Community Care Clinic/Stanly Health Foundation Cash Calendar is an important community health fundraiser, with folks winning cash each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this year, while supporting two local non-profits.
The calendar idea came from the need for a contact-less fundraiser during the pandemic and has quickly become a favorite of folks near and far.
“We’ve had so many local winners,” said Kim McGowen, annual giving officer at Stanly Health Foundation. “It’s so exciting each time we draw a winner to see where they are from, and find out the connection they have to the community. Many folks purchased calendars as Christmas gifts last year, and many of the winners received them as gifts. Talk about a gift that keeps on giving.”
While there is no guarantee that the calendar holder will win, there is a guarantee that the purchase of the calendar will help folks in the community. Proceeds provide healthcare treatment to those in the community who otherwise may not receive care, and also support grants that fund programs and projects in the local hospital, scholarships for local students pursuing healthcare degrees, access to free mammograms for the uninsured and healthy living education in schools.
“This calendar enables us to continue to take care of people in this community, and to fill a vital need,” said Chris Vaughn, director of the John P. Murray Community Care Clinic. “We appreciate all of the support we’ve received through the Cash Calendar and look forward to another successful year of sales.”
The concept is simple: each Monday, Wednesday and Friday of the year, a number is drawn for $250, $500 and $1,000, respectively. Numbers are included in every drawing, even if it has already won.
Calendars purchased before Nov. 15 are also included in the $3,000 Memorial Day Summer Cash Drawing and the $5,000 Holiday Cash Drawing on Black Friday. In all, $100,000 is given away. Only 2,000 calendars will be sold.
