The Holiday Tour of Homes, a fundraiser and Christmas tradition for Albemarle Downtown Development Corporation (ADDC), will not happen this December, due to ongoing COVID concerns.
This annual holiday tradition in Albemarle has treated ticket holders to a glimpse inside of festively decorated homes in and around the city. With COVID concerns still looming, homeowners were hesitant to open their doors to allow hundreds of people to walk through their homes this year.
“Our planning committee was off to a strong start on home recruitment,” said Joy Almond, Main Street Manager for the City of Albemarle and liaison for the ADDC. “But once the COVID numbers started to rise again over this past summer, homeowners either became hesitant to participate this year, or pulled out all together. It goes without saying that you can’t host a home tour without having homes to showcase, but I can certainly understand homeowners’ apprehensions.
“The ADDC is most appreciative of the effort the planning committee put into the 2021 Tour, and would appreciate the community’s support when we plan to resume this holiday tradition in December 2022.”
